Van Gogh me! Please, for the love of God!

Jessica “Chicken-of-the-Sea” Simpson has done a remake of “Take My Breath Away“.

There are lines you are just not meant to cross. Here’s an example. This remake is most certainly another example. Especially since she doesn’t have the voice to pull off the key change at the end. At all.

I may need to go watch Top Gun just to clear this out of my mind.

5 posts for March? Damn, that might be a record! And all of them within a 10 day span? Amazing!

I haven’t heard the song, but I learned long ago that it is amazing what they can do in a studio. Maybe she can pull it off just fine? And what’s wrong with Kenny G?

Hmph. ;)

No, really, she *doesn’t* have the voice. I’m sure they tried heroic measures to save it in the studion. That’s not a guess – I heard the song, and it’s just wrong.

And go read Pat Metheny’s article on Kenny G. He sums it up well. My only comment would be “tapioca” – and, on occasion, you may want tapioca.

You know, I don’t recall ever hearing Jessica Simpson sing. I may just have to hear this song so that I might share your pain. :)

I do not like watching her sing. She “over-acts” it. Have you seen her sing? Do you know what I mean? I do enjoy watching her wander around with a confused look all of the time.

I know exactly what you mean! I saw her singing that song (it was either on Letterman or Leno, I don’t remember), and she was over-enunciating everything. And she’s got such huge lips, it was almost like watching a fish. The horror, the horror…

I read his take on Kenny G some time ago. I don’t agree with it – I don’t find it to be tapioca at all. Then again, I hate tapioca. *shiver* All slimy and icky and stuff… But that’s beside the point. I like Kenny G. But hey, variety is the spice of life!

She was on Letterman last night. I caught her “rendition” of the song (which I have on 45, thankyouverymuch) and was absolutely appalled.

Not only does she not have the range, but her annunciation was nonexistant; if you didn’t already know the words, you weren’t going to get them from her. The stupid fluttering of hands and overwrought facial expressions were just too much.

Yeah it kind of reminds me of my daughter when she was 7 and pretending to be famous while she sung into her hair brush in front of the mirror.

I’m embarrased to admit that yes, I went to the show at the Rodeo. It left much to be desired. But now at least I can mark the Houston Rodeo off my list of things to do.

Jessica SImpson’s facial expression in the video ‘Take my breath away’ is agree is wierd. SHe is doing these wierd things with her mouth that looks silly. I like her a lot as an tv personality but i don’t think her voice could handle the song.
