There are whole rafts of Web 2.0 sites out there devoted to managing your life more effectively. 30Boxes for calendaring, Upcoming.org for events, Scribd for publishing documents, meebo for instant messaging, stikkit for todo and note tracking… The list goes on.
Staring at bubbl.us to brainstorm a process for work, it occurred to me – with all of these sites out there, if I really began to use them effectively, I’d have a massive disaster recovery issue on my hands. My information is spread over many sites, not held in one place, and none of it in a place I can directly control.
My solution? Look at each to see who provides exports, such as RSS or PDF, and begin to re-aggregate myself into one place locally so I don’t lose me.
