Poetry Breakfast #10 – Always Marry An April Girl

Always Marry A Bacon Piggy
(in which I claim to have nothing against Ogden Nash)

Praise the pigs and bless the farms,
I found Bacon in my arms.
Bacon golden, Bacon divine,
Crispy, meaty, tender, porcine;
Bacon soft in flowered languor,
Bacon sizzle with such anger,
Ever porky, ever true —
I love Bacon, I love you.

Always Marry An April Girl
Ogden Nash

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true —
I love April, I love you.
